Smile

I said it before but I wasn't entirely sure. Katie definitely just smiled with me while I was playing with her!  Jonathan thought maybe she smiled at him when he was feeding her a bottle yesterday.  Yay!!!

6 Weeks

Cole actually took the images I am in which is incredible.  The camera is heavy but he did well!  Speaking of his artistic side check out his latest drawings!  Amazing if you ask me!

Melt

Cole: "I know one thing Mommy, you are beautiful."

I asked him what made him say that (I am looking good today) and he said it is because I draw for him.  Not sure if he is trying his hand at cunning manipulation or not.  I told him yesterday I wouldn't draw with him for a while (he has become relentless in asking) but I would read and play games with him.  So not sure what the motivation was but it could work if he continues;).

Frogs and Minnows

Yesterday we met new friends at the park and caught tadpoles and minnows (and yes, Cole even had two leeches...yuck).  Cole had so much fun!  Katie and I sat in the shade enjoying the beautiful weather!

Milestones begin

Sad to be missing the homeschool convention this year...boo. In really great news, Katie felt sorry for me and wanted to make me feel better by giving me 3 very awkward newborn smiles and even a "ha" this morning when I was playing with her.

Cole Says

When Katie is fussing Cole says "Daddy, I will help shush her down."

5 Weeks!

Hard to believe 5 weeks have gone by!  Is it just me or does she look like she is asking for some help in this last picture? :)

Cole is going to be so happy when Katie plays.  He played with her during tummy time in the play gym.  He was trying to burp her too.

Today Katie had her one month checkup.  She was 21.25 inches long, 8lbs 5oz, and 14" head circumference. Doctor says she looks great.  Cole wanted to confer so he have her a checkup this afternoon.  He even said sorry when giving her a fake shot.

Similarities and Differences

It has been a pleasure getting to know our little girl.  So far many thing she does remind us of our little boy 5 years ago.  She looks like him, for one.  She has the chin dimple shared with her brother and cousin and she appears to have dimples on her cheeks like her brother.  She seems less fussy than her brother so far, but she will ramp up fussiness in the next few weeks and some of that could be that she has veteran parents.

Her nails are long and oval, her eyelashes are long, like Cole's, but they seem lighter.  She appears to need to sleep-train the same way as him and it has been going well for the most part.  She sucks her hand which her brother really didn't attempt much.  She eats better, like him, when structured.  Her hair is much longer on the sides and back than his was and it doesn't appear to be falling out yet.  She is a side sleeper.  There is no way to keep her on her back like they want you to.  Cole still sleeps on his back for the most part.  She hates baths and her either loved them but she doesn't mind tummy time and he hated it.  We think she will roll much earlier than he did.
