The Tummy Tuck

Well, the top picture shows me in my more comfortable resting state with my tummy. In the bottom picture I show that I can still suck in, but I wouldn't walk around like that. The only weird thing that has happened with the pregnancy is my fingers and hands have little bumps on them and some of them itch. They look good this morning, though.

Oklahoma State Cowboys Conquer Kansas Jayhawks

On this past Saturday our friends, Matt and Holly Brock, invited us to go to the Oklahoma State vs. Kansas basketball game. Us both being sports fans, it was a "no-brainer" decision. Of course we will go sit in awesome seats with two of our best friends, eat nachos, and cheer on the Pokes. It was a really fun time. Holly and I chatted a lot and missed some stuff, but we watched the whole first half and the last 8 minutes or so. The fans there are really into their Cowboys. We had great seats and you could see the expression on the players faces. It was cool. The Cowboys pulled off an upset and won it and the fans rushed the court. We stood there watching the fans and then left. We went and got their daughter, Sadie, (for dinner) who is an infinite source of entertainment. She is 4. A couple quotes from her: "I am not dressed like a cheerleader. Cheerleaders don't wear long sleeve and they don't wear tights." "I just love it when the light turns green (she is into traffic). I LOVE IT!" There are way too many other quotes. It is so neat to see her after about 6 months. She has changed a lot and is now more conversational than ever before. The evening ended and we just had a blast.

The Past Few Weeks

January 22nd was our 3rd Anniversary. I forgot to mention in earlier blogs that Jonathan had the little guy above sent to my office for me. We named him Patches. He is from Build-A-Bear. I am not really big on getting real flowers since they die, but this was great!:)

This is just another fleece blanket I made for Christmas. I forgot to post it and I figured at least one of my Austrian readers would want to see it. I actually hand stitched the back of the binding on....it took a while, but it looks better than machine stitching.

Here's the pile of pants and such that I should be working on instead of sitting here on the computer. Jonathan added two pairs of his pants to this pile!!!

Jonathan pretty much single-handedly redid the closet floor with the laminate we had put all over the house. He started it when I was in Tennessee/Alabama and we finished it the night after I came home. I took a picture of his side of the closet because mine isn't as "Real Simple" looking.

Here's an update on my physique. Really, still not much noticeable change while I am clothed but I don't think I will post something other than clothed on the blog. I can definitely feel the bump. Another great side-effect is pimples. I air-brushed my own face out of vanity...how horrible.

Sudden Realizations

Some things I have realized just this morning...First off, I need to get another picture of my physical progression up on the blog. I will be 16 weeks along tomorrow so I am still not really "showing" but I can tell now. I have an outfit on for the picture that I hope will show my bulging abdomen, but really, there isn't much to see here, folks. I am not upset about that at all, either. The only weird thing is my second realization...I am pretty much in maternity pants from here on out. SOOO, I need to do some sewing!!! I have 4 pairs of pants just sitting on my sewing table waiting to be hemmed...they don't make clothing for the short and squat...you have to become a seamstress and alter them. I can't complain, though....4 bucks a pair for pants at Old Navy (thank you for the shopping hint Amanda Haskew)...I think I can hem for those prices. Good thing I took a sewing class! Third realization is that though I never ate a lot of meat before pregnancy all of a sudden polish kielbasa, burgers, and all sorts of man food are all I eat. Literally, the only sweets I have eaten are an occasional Freddy's custard. Otherwise, I haven't been interested. For those of you who know my prior eating habits (such as my mother) I ate more sweets typically...that was my vice. Now, I don't even get much of a thrill from eating frozen yogurt at night, but kielbasa...bring it on!!! (Pictures later today).

I'm going to do the Top 5 Places I Want to See or Want to See Again:

1. I would like to go to Ireland. I don't have any particular place it mind. Seeing the movie PS. I Love You just made me want to go more (not Gerry Butler because I think he is Scottish anyway, but the scenery) and the Quiet Man, Laws of Attraction, Shipping News, etc. One of those was bound to actually be filmed in Ireland. Actually, I am pathetic enough that I looked it up and PS I Love You was filmed in the County Wicklow.

2. I would like to go to Cornwall, England. I have a friend who is from there and it sounds beautiful.

3. I would like to go back to Barbados with Jonathan. I loved it there the first time. Even going on a cruise and going back that way would be ok with me.

4. I would like to go to Italy. My family is from Sicily, but Jonathan's is from Italy. I just think it would be a fun trip. My Dad and brother went a few years back to Rome, Venice, etc, and it sounded awesome.

5. Finally I would like to go to Alaska in the summer.

6. This is actually my top travel choice for the near future. Amanda Haskew reminded me:). It is true...we were thinking about going to Vienna, Austria this year before getting pregnant. Now, we may have to put it off for a while, but it our number one destination while the Haskews are there.

Walking in Memphis

I went on a business trip and just so happened to be going through Memphis for part of it. I got to stay with one of my best buds, Christine, and her husband, Tim. I was there for the tornadoes, so that was exciting. Last Tuesday (the 5th of February) we were sitting out on their deck in 75 degree weather. After the storm it was cold cold cold. A picture of their house is above and a picture of Christine and I below. I don't know what got into my hair...looks crazy to me. Anyway, I actually got a chance to hang around a little with Christine and we went shopping, though we didn't buy anything. We had a lot of fun, though!

The Other Piece of News

Well, part of the whole car/PE test post was to prepare our many rabid fans for the biggest piece of news. Anyone think we were pregnant when they read the title? I know some of you did...you told me! Well, we are pregnant! Yay! We are 14 weeks along. This picture was taken at 13. Not much going on as far as "showing" yet. Use this picture as a benchmark. You can kind of see how my lower stomach sticks out (under the belly button) more than the upper, but unless you looked really closely at my stomach (which was very flat) before, you would have no idea it had expanded. Myself and my closet...we know we have expanded. I have slowly played taps on my trumpet and temporarily retired my former loose fitting pants that are now tight. I have only gained about 5 lbs, but my weight shifted enough that the old pants aren't doing it anymore.
Good news is I haven't been sick. Only at night and it is more just uncomfortable than sick. Like I ate a ton (even if I just had a bowl of cereal). Supposedly that is supposed to go away a little now. It kind of has subsided, so I am clapping at night when I don't feel yucky. The only real "side effect" thus far has been overwhelming exhaustion. You other ladies know what I am talking about. I have never been a huge couch potato as an adult, but when I get home from work I am ready to crash.
I did break the news to work and everyone has been supportive. I am not going to work full time or in an office after having our child, so unless an arrangement is worked out at my job I am going to look elsewhere for part time, from home employment. Until then I will continue to work hard and be successful at my job for as long as I can.
Next week I travel for work to Decatur, Alabama and up to Memphis, TN. I am staying with my friends Tim and Christine Petteys while in Memphis. I really like Memphis and I hope to bring back a few nice pictures. It is a work trip, so there won't be a lot of time for that, but my parents got us this little awesome camera for Christmas and I intend to use it a little. I will certainly see some Elvis's while there. Last time I visited Christine we went to Graceland and it was the anniversary of the King's death. Strange people you see there on Lonely Street.
