The Baker Man

Cole enjoys helping make sugar cookies.  This time I heated the dough after pulling in out of the fridge because it seemed way too hard to roll out.  Well, that meant they were too soft to roll out then so we just went with it and instead of sprinkles I made up a batch of icing and we introduced Cole to a new way of decorating.
 Icing.
This is after the first batch.  Cole took a cookie break.

If you ever wonder what color his eyes are this shot has some very excellent clarity.
This facial expression cracks me up.
Batch #2 of cookies.  We had paper towels underneath to catch all the drippings.

 "This one is done, Mommy."
"Um, this one is done, too."

 He's serious about his work.

We went to the aquarium yesterday.
Cole ran from tank to tank like a maniac.
"The sing ways (sting rays) spash (splash) the wah wah (water)."
We left prematurely since Cole had difficulty even listening to us/hearing.  He was beside himself with excitement and screamed as we had to leave because it was very crowded and he was not very reasonable.  Maybe next time we can spend more time there...

Krispy Kreme MOPS Playdate

Today we had a MOPS playdate and we took the kids on a tour through Krispy Kreme to see how donuts are made.  Jackson was ready to go!
Waiting for the tour to start.  We had to wear the hats.  All of us.  Needless to say there are no pictures of us women...we probably wouldn't like that.

 Finished products.

 Looking at yeast.
 Touching dough.

Watching how they rise in the oven.  I did not pick out Cole's shoes.

Donuts just after being cooked in a vat of vegetable oil.  But just before going through the waterfall of icing (glaze)
Getting ready to decorate their own donuts.
This impressed me.  I really thought they'd just let the kids have a glaze donut each, but they gave them glazed dipped in chocolate and let them decorate.  I thought that was kind of neat.
The way Cole's mind works just completely fascinates me.  He is a problem solver.  Instead of decorating his donut he thought the purpose of the sprinkles was to get them in the donut hole.

He only took about 3 bites.  I don't think he liked the chocolate which is weird because he loves chocolate, but that is what he told me...
Look at those eye lashes and eyes.  Amazing.

Mr. Independence

Boots and shorts do go together!
Who am I kidding?  I am definitely not uptight enough for this to bother.
I will cherish this forever:).  I love everything about this picture...Jonathan's hands, the ball, the boots, the boy!

Big Boy Bed and Choo Choo Hat

Cole's Big Boy Room.  No crib!  We are going to redecorate, but this is what his room is situated like, now.

"Take my picture, Mommy" - music to my ears!
Cole insisted on wearing his train hat yesterday.  I didn't argue with him about it or anything, so maybe insisted isn't the right word.  He looked so cute!
Water break!  It was so warm he should have been in short sleeves!

Big Boy Bed Transition

We bought Cole's bed in the beginning of February or end of January and he wasn't too interested in doing anything but play in it.
He would say he wanted to sleep in it and then would sit in it and ask to go to his crib.
So, we helped him along and decided to take his mattress out of his crib so there was not an option and see what happened.
He did great.  After the first night he woke up and got out of bed and cried.  After that we told him he wasn't allowed to get out.
He listened.
He hasn't slept quite as well, but hasn't been horribly bad with sleeping, either.  He is starting to get used to it.
We took down the crib on Saturday.
Cole helped.
Sort of.
Last look through the rails.
