Cole when I ask him to do a task, "Ok, close your eyes......no pinking!"

At
the beginning of last week he couldn't do it:). I gadn't worked with
him a lot, though. I had figured maybe he wasn't quite ready or
interested, but writing is one of the last things we do everyday and he
looks forward to it!
We still have mechanical kinks to work out and I should have taught him "L" a little different so it doesn't resemble a C sideways, but it is legible!

Cole Quote
Cole is using the term "must" instead of "need to" and it is hilarious. "I must put my animal under here" instead of "I need to put my animal under here"...so cute:).
He also says "she-shells" instead of seashells:).

First Day of School
Had Cole's 4 year checkup today so we took the day off of school. He is in the 75th percentile for height and 90th for weight. He's growing and he is a solid and apparently tall little boy!!!
Marble Coaster
Yesterday we had what I am considering our 3rd day of school and in the afternoon we added to our fun by making a Marble Coaster from Disney Family Fun magazine...isn't it awesome? Cole likes to sing, by the way.

Cole is a wonderful little boy! He is gaining independence by leaps and bounds at age 4. He recently potty trained, learned to pretty much dress himself (still with error, but definitely got the hang of it) and he is getting a little attitude...not a big one, but he is picking up things we say and repeating them and applying the tones of our conversations properly. Example:
Me: Is that show over (his train show we were watching together but I stepped away)?
Cole: Do you still hear it?
Me: Yes.
Cole: Then it is not over yet.
Where could he have gotten such a snarky comment? I am sure it was from me, so I better watch how I ask questions. I try to encourage critical thinking in him when he asks the obvious...perhaps I got a taste of my own medicine (but still informed him he was being disrespectful to talk to me like that and next time I wouldn't laugh). Needless to say I need to revamp how I have discussions with him...kind of embarrassed!
So this is a wonderful and challenging time of Cole's development. We start school this next week and we had two "preview" days and so far so good! More to come later!

4th Birthday Party
Some images from Cole's party from Saturday. It was a lot of fun and I am glad we kept it small! More about it and more Cole quotes coming soon. He is using big words all the time and it is very funny. Tonight he said, "I am proud of Daddy for fixing my Rahr, but I want the shaker out". (rattle that Daddy fixed).
"Actually" is another word he is using a lot.
Cole was very embarrassed when we sang him Happy Birthday (middle picture) and wouldn't blow out his candles so his friend, Claire, helped!

Biker
Grandparents will get to love on him soon enough as we have a visit coming up, but I thought I'd post these few shots of him bicycling in our driveway as I got some rug pictures to sell them.

Donuts for Lunch
The original intent was to get him the free cookie that Merritt's gives out to library chidrens program participants. I ended up getting a donut for us to split. I figured he'd eat maybe 4-5 bites and want his cookie. Nope. He ate the chocolate donut with Bavarian Cream filling pretty much without any assistance (except a hose-down afterward in the bathroom). :)
