My craft idea

I got this idea from another blog. I am very excited about it! I am changing it up a bit, but I can't say exactly how, but I will post pictures of the completed craft soon. I ordered my supplies from www.candytiles2.etsy.com. You can go small scale, like me, or larger scale for supply purchases. If this works out the way I am hoping I will order more and do a fun little thing for many gifts. If you order in bulk it's really not very expensive. Wish me luck...
Sorry to keep you in suspense, but it is for a reason.
Ok, well, it turned out ok. I had to back up and punt and I will have the finished product posted on Mother's Day. Kayla, Amanda...I can send my idea to you guys!

9 Months Old!!!

Cole turned 9 months today and we had his 9 month docs appointment.
No shots this appointment so Cole probably is smiling because of that.
His bucket hat was a HUGE hit at the doctor's office. "Top O' The Mornin' To Ya!"
The doctor was impressed with Cole's "confidence" that he had no fear when strangers approached him. I filled out a sheet for 10 month old development and though he isn't crawling I was happy to see he has pretty much everything down for problem solving and social skills. The problem solving made me think that that is what he is doing when finding a way to hold all 3 balls (or juggling bean bags that he has) at once by using his feet. I need to get a video. It is so methodical it is hilarious.
He weighs 18 lbs 10 oz (25th percentile) and he is 28 1/2" Tall (50th percentile). Good thing we just switched him into his bigger car seat (pictures to come) because he is right on the cusp of not fitting in the infant car seat for height. Overall the doctor was very happy with his progress and health and that is all we care about. Well, since he gets no shots, hopefully his photo shoot will be free of crankiness tomorrow! We'll see!

39 Weeks! Our baby is 9 months old tomorrow!

Very smiley today! There were a ton of good ones!
The wave (it looks like it at least). He smiles when I wave his hands at people.
Toothy grin.

He has started eating teething biscuits, crackers, and strawberries on his own. He has the pincer reflex going a little, but it needs more development before he can actually get poofs into his mouth. He has been trying, though. He has been doing this funny thing where he has 3 balls to his activity train and he wants to hold them all at once. So, if he is holding 2 he puts the one from his right hand in between his feet, shifts the left to the right and grabs the 3rd ball with his left hand. It's so cute and we laughed so hard because he did it over and over (we have a picture of this - post coming soon). He also just enjoys holding things between his feet in general. He's always putting stuff in between his feet to "hold".

Cole finally figured out how to drink from a sippy cup by himself tonight. We had been holding it for him, but I just decided right before Jonathan got home that I was just going to let him try and see if he could figure it out and he did. This was his 3rd real sip (a mini-milestone). Pardon my crazy praise in the background. We were both so proud. Jonathan saw him from the coat closet, too. Cole thought it was so awesome that he started trying to eat his teething biscuit by eating it above his head like the sippy. I think he thought we would clap and everything...we have a real ham on our hands.
On a related note, he has become a real flirt the past two weeks. Literally every woman who catches his eye in a store he smiles at. It is so cute. One lady just stopped as she was walking past the aisle we were in and said...aww, he is so cute and he was smiling at me I just had to stop!

Here he is laughing as Daddy makes a bunch of karate chop actions (thus the sound effects in the beginning "wha wha"). He thinks it is so funny if we karate chop really fast. We don't know why.

How in the World?

Well, maybe this is indicative of him desiring to move. He had been working his way up into the corner of his crib and crying. Now, he turns 90-180 degrees. How? I have no idea, but it's hilarious. Head to toe on bumpers. Now I know what bumpers are for.

38 Weeks!

I can't believe how big his feet are getting. Obviously, there is no benchmark here so you can tell, but they are too cute!
He grabbed a flower off of the spring sprig I got at AC Moore yesterday and he wouldn't put it down.
This one melted my heart.
Look at those chompers!

Too funny. I am not sure what this was about. The marks on his forearm are from the tv remote he was playing with.
Let's dance.
Seriously, there were way too many good ones this week.

Cole's New Beach Wear and Little Friend

We got Cole a sand bucket and shovel and rake from Target. The shovel and rake were the only ones like them in the store and they had no price so we got them for 99 cents. They were far better quality than the other ones and they had a smaller handle for a baby to grab, so he really likes them.
Beach-Ready Baby Cole.
"See my new sand stuff?"
Say hello to our little friend who was inhabiting our garage. Ironically we just saved 15% or more by switching to Geico.
Playing us a song on the keyboard of his jumper.

Hats

Cole has a fascination with hats. He is fine with wearing them, but when I walk into the room wearing a baseball cap or the hat mentioned above he just stares at me. Maybe it is a fascination of me in hats. I haven't noticed whether he does it when Jonathan wears hats, but I would imagine the effect is the same. Anything we wear that is different (glasses for example) seem to get the same intense stare. If he was fussing right before, he stops and stares. It is so funny.
He doesn't like when the hat goes over his eyes. He tries to pull it down instead of up because when we play peek-a-boo he always pulls whatever we put on his head or over his face down. So funny.

"Let me tell you about hats," he says so nonchalantly with finger pointing and legs crossed.
"I like 'em"

37 Weeks!

Gena Alexander jinxed me. Cole has been pretty unhappy ever since she said how happy he was. Gena, I am not determined to prove you wrong, but Cole must be able to read! Actually, he is just getting a lot of teeth all at once and Orajel, Tylenol, Motrin, and Wh1skey aren't working (just kidding on the wh1skey...wanted to see if you were paying attention). This is supposed to be one of the "Wonder Weeks" if you believe in anything in those books (I am not convinced) so I guess it stands to reason as far as that book is concerned that he would be difficult.
Little Mr. Cranky Pants. For some reason he looks older this week to me.Maybe some John Mayer and Third Day will keep him happy. What? Mommy, Glenn Miller is so old school and you know I don't like the trumpet!
(He got mad when I took the iPod away)

Happier times doing exercised with Daddy.
On a side note, Jonathan and I watched Princess Bride this weekend. I was all excited for him to enjoy it. He didn't find it funny. Come on! Someone who reads this blog reaffirm that it is a funny movie and I have a sense of humor!!! At least then I won't feel so bad forcing him to watch it! We also watched Quantum of Solace last week and we both really liked it. The new Bond is pretty awesome and he really gets beat up a lot!!

Happy Easter!

After church. This is the best picture we have ever had of the three of us.
This is his church outfit.
Playing outside yesterday.
I did Cole's pictures a few days early. So they are a few posts down (or here is a link).

4th Tooth!

This morning. These are 12 month pjs and I didn't think they would fit him, but they did.
Only Daddy can bring about such a smiley boy after a crabby day.
Here's the teeth...our little hippopotamus.
Hippo hanging upside down.

Happy Easter 2009

I know it's a couple days early, but it was so nice out that today was a good day to do a photo shoot. Cole wasn't too happy at all today..poor thing...but at least we got some nice shots.

Thank you to whoever gave us this bunny. I know we didn't buy it, but it was a nice prop today.
As close to a smile as it got.
So cute. I love the peach cheeks:).
